Steven Benitez (North Carolina)
Steven began working in construction at age 16 as part of a high school vocational program in northern NY. After graduation, he continued to work on residential projects alongside several trades. In 2022, he joined a concrete company where he truly gained an appreciation for heavy equipment and its applications.
Steven joined Sunbelt Rentals in 2024 as District Safety Trainer and is qualified to teach boom and scissor lift, forklift, and earthmoving operator certification courses as well as Fall Protection Awareness. He provides classes in English and Spanish throughout the Charlotte, NC region.
As a safety trainer, Steven is very connected with the Spanish speaking construction community and noted that while many of them have taken some classes in the past, they never really understood them due to the language barrier. This drives his devotion to fully engage and challenge even experienced operators to continue their learning how to safely operate the equipment they work with daily.
Steven’s first child was born in 2024 and spends all his time away from work with his family. Steven was raised in the Dominican Republic, and like many others who live on the island, BASEBALL IS LIFE. He also loves swimming, rock climbing, and playing pick-up recreational games such as disc golf, volleyball, and pickleball.
