Carlos Nieves (Florida)

Carlos joined the NYPD-School Safety Division where he worked for 12 years achieving the rank of Sergeant for nine of those years. One of his most memorable achievements was in 1989 when he started what was then a pilot program, the implementation of the Metal Detection Program in NYC public schools.

In 2016, Carlos joined Sunbelt Rentals as an Equipment Rental Specialist and Safety Coordinator and was promoted to Safety Trainer in 2021. He is certified to teach MEWP, forklift, and earthmoving equipment operator certification courses in addition to Fall Protection and CPR/First Aid.

In 2002 Carlos graduated from Florida Metropolitan University with a major in Criminal Justice. He is passionate about law enforcement, and the safety and protection of others. With Sunbelt, he saw the importance of this in the construction industry and took the opportunity to teach operator and jobsite safety courses to customers. Carlos enjoys meeting new people and creating strong business relationships. He looks forward to, meeting his students, learning about their experiences, and listening to their stories.
